I almost threw this image away. I loved her expression, but glasses can often be an issue when photographing people which is why I often encourage people to bring contacts to their photoshoot if they own them. Whether it’s the glare from the windows that I use with natural light photography or reflections of anything white, glasses almost always give me some kind of trouble that lead to a lot of post production work in Photoshop.
This image was no exception. For some crazy reason, I had decided to wear a blue and white striped three-quarter sleeve t-shirt. As we began to lose the light inside my home studio, we moved outside where the natural light was abundant. Unfortunately, glasses do not like the light as much as I do and hers did not mix well with my striped shirt.
Nearly every portrait I took in this setup had these weird lines in her glasses and, for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out what they were! After zooming in and spending quite a long time trying to retouch these mysterious stripes away, I finally remembered the shirt I had been wearing. Needless to say, now I wear nearly all black to every shoot. No color casts and NO stripes!
