When Abby and Logan got married, I was so honored to help photograph their wedding day. But, as it so often happens on a wedding day, the timeline did not allow for Abby to get some portraits that she really wanted. So a few months later, I approached her and asked if she and her new husband would be interested in doing a portrait session on the locations that we couldn’t make it to at their wedding. She jumped at the chance and told me about this incredible field of sunflowers just down the street from their house. How could I resist sunflowers?!
As soon as I arrived at her house, we got down to styling. She was worried that her hair wouldn’t curl but we were able to get it to behave. Then she asked me to come help her pick outfits for her and her husband. There were so many beautiful choices, but we finally settled on a simple contrast between them. He wore a simple black button down shirt and she wore a lovely white linen summer dress. When we got to the field, I was scared to death of getting stung by the bees that were gathering pollen from the sunflowers, but together we tromped through the field and made this stunning image. I’ve got to say that the sunflowers were the least beautiful thing there.
